Kodak digital cameras
Did George Eastman ever have any idea his technology would come to the digital age? Kodak digital cameras are now a major player in the market place, a long way from the original Kodak cameras of the 1880’s. In fact the first cameras came pre loaded with film top shoot 100 images and then be returned to the factory to be developed and reloaded with new film. Seems somewhat akin to modern convenience of digital cameras eh?
Kodak
has always been synonomous with quality photography. George Eastman’s early goal was to make photography “as convenient as the pencil” Now with the digital age that goal seems to have come as true as it was in the days of the Brownie camera. For over 100 years that largely meant the gold standard in photo finishing, film, and movie film. Then along came the development of digital cameras and Kodak evolved into a digital company. Kodak digital cameras now offer the consumer great options and flexibility.
History
George Eastman brought his photo plate process to the world in 1888. Then he developed easy cameras for the average person to use. The Brownie camera became a standard for many years. Through the development of film processes….
Technology
Once known almost entirely for its film, Kodak has managed to evolve into a digital imaging company through the implementation of a broad strategy aimed at giving consumers easy to use cameras (ala the Brownie of the early days) simple ways to get their images printed, and new ways to build LCD screens that are brighter and sharper than existing products.
Factoid
Did you know that George Eastman’s introduction of the first commericial transparent roll film in 1889 helped enable Thomas Edison to develop the first motion picture camera in 1891. By 1896 Kodak was marketing film specially coated for motion picture use. The movies would not have been possible if not for Eastman and Kodak’s early product development. Source- Kodak corp. 2004
